Tyler Shybunka joined the High Street Financial team because he wanted to get back into the real estate game and enjoys working in a close-knit team atmosphere. He values an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoys working alongside clients to understand their personal, business, and real estate needs, to help them create something great. He considers his role with clients almost like an external chief financial officer. By working closely with clients, he can delve into their needs to help determine the best path forward, while bringing the outside industry expertise and best practices of a seasoned external advisor.
For the past decade, Tyler has focused his career on commercial banking and finance, supporting clients across many industries and backgrounds. His last role afforded him opportunities to work closely with clients on the debt side of the equation. He helped facilitate the clients’ needs like a quarterback, offering his knowledge and handing the ball to someone with different expertise, when required.
This team mentality has characterized Tyler’s approach to personal and professional endeavors throughout his life. He played four seasons in the Western Hockey League, five years with the University of Alberta Men’s Hockey team, and four years of professional hockey in Europe. He believes that a team approach is just as critical in business as it is in sports.
Tyler has his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting. He has volunteered with numerous organizations, including sitting on the Executive Board of the Golden Bears Hockey Alumni and coaching minor hockey teams.
